App Actions

The stages within an app consist of one or more actions for the user to complete. There are 27 different actions available to choose from in Busibricks.

Actions in an app process can be created, edited and deleted in the Design App process.

Adding actions to stages

Complete the following steps to add a new action to a stage:

  1. Click on Design. A drop-down list is displayed.
  2. Click on the app process that you want to add an action to. The app is displayed in the main window with existing stages and actions shown.
  3. Click on the stage tab that you want to add an action to. Any existing actions are displayed in the list on the selected stage.
  4. Click Add Action. A new action record is inserted into the list at the bottom.
  5. Click on the drop-down list in Action type to choose the type of action. A description of each Action Type is as follows:

    Action Type Description
    Balance Sheet Create a balance sheet to save or export.
    CRM Record  
    Calculation Input a numerical calculation into your app process.
    Confirm Asks the user to confirm that something has been done.
    Contact Method Add a contact method for the app's target.
    Custom Create custom scripting code.
    Date Input a date into the app process.
    Decision Allow the user to select Yes / No. Each option can direct them to a different part of the process.
    Document Generates personalised PDF documents from a template merged with data collected in the pipeline. Simple scripts can be used to manipulate data for presentation purposes.
    Email Create a standard email message from a template to send out. When the app is run the user enters the recipients' email addresses.
    Event Create an appointment linked to the process and its target record.
    Grid Creates a table during the app process that the user can enter data into.
    HTML Editor  
    Invoice Create an invoice to implement in the process.
    Label Create labels to print for paperwork.
    Notes Store a note during the app process.
    Number Store a number in the app process.
    Numeric Select  
    Radio Create a selection using radio buttons
    Report  
    Selection Creates a selection of options via a drop-down menu.
    Task Create a task and link it to the process and its target record.
    Text Enter free-from text.
    Time Input a time to the app process.
    Upload Upload a file to attach to the app process.
    Upload Image Upload an image file to attach to the app process.
    Url Include a website URL while operating the app process.

    A context-sensitive window is displayed depending on the Action Type selected.

  6. Complete the fields on the Action Type form.
  7. Click Save to save any changes (or click Cancel to undo any changes). The new action appears in the list on the selected app stage tab.
  8. Check the Editable box to [TODO]
  9. Check the Required box to make the action compulsory. The user will not be able to continue until the action is complete.
  10. Check the Free Action box to [TODO]

Edit an action

Complete the following steps to edit an existing action:

  1. Click on Design. A drop-down list is displayed.
  2. Click on the app process that contains the action that you want to edit. The app is displayed in the main window with existing stages and actions shown.
  3. Click on the stage tab that contains the action that you want to edit. All existing actions are displayed in the list on the selected stage.
  4. Click the Edit button. The Configuring Action window is displayed.
  5. Edit any details as required.
  6. Click Save to save any changes (or click Cancel to undo any changes). The window closes.

Change the order of actions

Complete the following steps to change the order that actions are completed:

  1. Click on Design. A drop-down list is displayed.
  2. Click on the app process that contains the actions that you want to change the order of. The app is displayed in the main window with existing stages and actions shown.
  3. Click on the stage tab that contains the actions that you want to change the order of. All existing actions are displayed in the list on the selected stage.
  4. Click on the action that you want to move. The action's record is highlighted.
  5. Drag the action to it's new position in the list and release. The order is saved automatically.

Delete an existing action

Complete the following steps to delete an existing action:

  1. Click on Design. A drop-down list is displayed.
  2. Click on the app process that you want to delete an action from. The app is displayed in the main window with existing stages and actions shown.
  3. Click on the stage tab that contains the action that you want to delete. All existing actions are displayed in the list on the selected stage.
  4. Click the Delete button on the action's row that you want to remove. A confirmation is displayed.
  5. Type 'DELETE' in the field.
  6. Click OK to delete the action (or click Cancel to undo). You are returned to the Design screen.
